Why someone doesn’t want to buy from you

I’m often asked by clients and students; so ‘how do you turn sales objections in selling points?’

I love this question because it seems to stump so many people as they wrestle with why they aren’t getting more sales. But, why would you want someone to buy something from you that they objected to? You wouldn’t, right?

So let’s get serious and spend a few minutes unpacking what handling an objection is mainly about.

After all, needing to handle objections is an absolute certainty in sales … it will definitely happen, so you’ll want to be super clear on what to do.

No Stress Sales

A wimps six-point guide to making sales calls

If you like to back out at the first opportunity when making sales calls then this quick-fire guide will help you get the job done with less stress.

1. Get ready to listen

Listening sounds like it should be a cinch but you’ll be surprised how many sales people don’t do this at all. You’ve all answered the phone to hear someone launch into ‘robot’ mode and gabble on about what service/product they are offering. You can’t wait to get them off the phone, right?

Instead start the conversation by actually listening. Have a killer opening question and listen carefully to the answer rather than thinking ahead about how you can ‘sell, sell, sell’.  The killer question will depend on your relationship with the customer but once you know how, it’s really easy to think of one. Find out more about the ‘killer question’ in our Facebook group.

The difference between Facebook and a blog

Over in our Facebook group, The Hangout, we’ve been running a poll to see how many of you use a blog to drive traffic to your website and how successful it is.

This prompted the question ‘I don’t have time for both, isn’t it better just to do social media as it still drives traffic’.

Whilst I love Facebook and other social media platforms there are a number of reasons I would always be careful in only posting on social media. Here’s why.

Leads for your business

Four first steps to creating a lead generation plan that really works

It is easy to leave lead generation and marketing on the to-do pile when the sales are rolling in, or run out of time and give it a half hearted attempt, then get huffy when you don’t get the revenue you hoped for. We’ve all been there.

Whether you are spending money on adverts or spending your time creating content and posting on social media it all adds up and can impact your business drastically.

With this in mind I want you to be honest with yourself and decide if you really do have a WRITTEN lead generation plan in place or is it just something you’ll finally get round to doing.

Five ways to breathe new life into your business

I love a new challenge. If I’ve got five minutes to spare I’ll spend it hatching a plan which involves a cycling weekend away with a group of mates, signing up for a mud run or booking a course to learn how to groom a dog (that one didn’t go so well. Who knew dogs won’t stand still…).

Finding new challenges is how we add variety. Make things better. Improve. Learn.

Both for your own sanity and your balance sheet – I’m guessing it’s the latter – right? But to make sure you achieve this it all comes down to how much effort you put in at the very beginning.
